About Me.

I'm a consumer-centered Product leader with a long track record of driving results while building first class teams and relationships. I've been told that my secret sauce in leadership roles is having a customer focus, being a great person to work with, and bringing smarts and hard work to the table.

I've held a variety of roles, including

  • Chief Product Officer for the digital arm of the largest RV maker in the world

  • Head of Digital Product for multiple e-tail startups

  • Leading all of Order Management for a top food-delivery marketplace

Cool things I've been responsible for:

  • Building an iPad app that handled thousands of simultaneous bidders on live auctions, where every millisecond of the experience counts

  • All food delivery ETAs and reducing incidence and impact of late orders for millions of diners, restaurants, and drivers

  • Building a brand-new subscription product in a mobile-first experience for RVers;

  • Running dozens of split tests to improve e-commerce experiences and constantly iterate to improve conversion rates

As a product manager and a leader, I'm known for

  • Being a straight-shooter and strong communicator

  • Smarts and quick-thinking, but also humility and kindness

  • Applying logic and structure to thorny problems, bringing teams through the haze of ambiguity to be able to move forward and make material process

  • Caring about staff on my teams and listening to what they need to grow and succeed

  • Applying practical, but also informed, product development processes (lightweight versions of scrum and kanban, for example, so that teams can deliver useful software but not get bogged down in the process itself.)

Product Management Goodies

Here are some of my favorite Product Management things - books, articles, and people I find myself frequently referencing when I talk with teams and other product folks. Enjoy!

BOOKS - I find myself recommending these books & theories often

  • The Design of Everyday Things - this book changed the way I think about solving problems and making products for humans. Every product manager should read it.

  • Never Split The Difference - practical and thought-provoking read on human interaction and communications (written by a top FBI hostage negotiator)

  • Lateral Thinking - I love how this gives methods to get teams thinking in new and creative ways and get out of group-think ruts

ONLINE STUFF

  • The Agile Manifesto - I can't tell you how many people who use Scrum who have never even heard of this stating of first principles, and how clearly people have become indoctrinated into the details of process without understanding the basic "why" that is actually much more impactful.

  • How Not To Run A Split Test - most people run tests badly! don't do that!!

  • Netflix series “Abstract” - it is a wonderous ode to design and creativity and problem-solving and just a glorious glory to watch

  • I love this thread on storytelling
